St. Joseph Benton senior forward M.J. Johnson has become the third student-athlete to sign within the past five days with the North Central Missouri College men’s basketball program.  Johnson, a 6’6″ wing, was an All-Midland Empire Conference honorable mention selection in the 2015-2016 season.

He joins Trenton High School forward Cree Mullenix and Kirksville High School guard Chance Edwards as members of the Pirates 2016 recruiting class.  Jim Bligh of U-Click TV, reporting for KTTN/KGOZ from St. Joseph on Tuesday morning, spoke with both M.J. and his future head coach, Steve Richman:

Johnson will become the first Benton Cardinal to play for North Central Missouri since Jared Boone from 2004 to 2006.  Boone is currently the St. Joseph Central girls basketball head coach.
