Grundy County’s August unemployment rate has inched above four percent for the first time since March of this year with a rate of four point one percent.

That figure is based on 189 persons unemployed out of a civilian labor force of 45 hundred 70. That’s the second consecutive month the civilian labor force has been less than 4,600 for Grundy County. Back in April, that number was at 5,000.

August unemployment rates across area counties are ranging from Linn county at six point seven percent, down to Worth county at two point seven percent. The statewide average is four percent.

Area counties with unemployment rates above the state average, besides Linn, are Carroll and Clinton at four point eight; Mercer County at four point seven; Sullivan and DeKalb at four point three; Grundy and Caldwell at four point one percent.

Area counties with unemployment rates that are less than the state average include Daviess and Putnam at three point nine; Chariton at three point eight; Gentry at three point seven; Livingston is at three point six; Harrison county at three and a half; and Worth which is less than three percent.
