Several area schools received recognition as exemplary schools at the 12th Annual Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support Summer Training Institute.

Schools achieving the Recognition Award of Excellence Gold level include Milan Elementary.

Gold schools implemented universal, targeted, intensive, and individualized interventions with fidelity.

Those achieving the Silver level include Rissler Elementary in Trenton, South Harrison Elementary in Bethany, and Brookfield Elementary and High Schools.

Schools attaining the Bronze level include Green Hills Head Start in Trenton and Searcy Elementary in Gallatin.

All schools receiving the Award of Excellence showed that the implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support interventions resulted in improved outcomes for students.

The interventions make up a framework, creating safer and more effective schools by structuring the learning environment to support the academic and social success of students.

It focuses on encouraging positive behavior, preventing disruptive behavior, and supporting individual student needs.

About 680 Missouri schools participated in the Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support initiative last school year.
