Payless ShoeSource stores in Chillicothe, Kirksville, and Maryville are three of the nearly 400 stores to be closed.
The stores at Southtown Shopping Center in Chillicothe, Hastings Plaza in Kirksville, and Maryville Shopping Center will close due to Payless’s chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and restructuring in North America.
The company is also restructuring its Hong Kong logistics and supply chain entities.
Of the nearly 400 Payless ShoeSource stores that are closing in the U.S., the most — 66—will be in Texas, according to a list released by the footwear retailer on Thursday.
Payless ShoeSource announced Tuesday that it has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and will restructure its operations in North America, including hundreds of store closures. Payless became highly leveraged in a 2012 buyout and its debt burden has crushed it during a period of weak sales and cash flow.
