Alumni basketball game set for Saturday night at North Mercer gym

Alumni from Princeton and North Mercer Schools will compete in two basketball games Saturday night.

This year, the game will be played in the North Mercer gymnasium with the girls game to begin at 6 o’clock, the boys game to follow.

The game is being promoted as the North versus the South showdown.

This is the sixth annual benefit for the Mercer County Helping Hands organization which has the non-profit 501 C3 designation. Concession stand opens at 5 o’clock.

Those to contact if you’d like to play for Princeton are Becci Shew and Derek Power. If for Mercer, the contacts are Hilary Girdner and Jeff Girdner.

Those wishing to help out during the night may contact Kelly Bertrand of Princeton at 660-748-8348.

Besides basketball and concessions, other activities include “Chuck-A-Duck”, a 50-50 drawing, and the auction of various items.

The evening will be raising money to help those with a medical need in Mercer County.

Since the helping hands organization began in Mercer County, it’s reported over $25,000 has been given to the persons in need.

Helping hands also accepts donations during the course of the year.
