Three people were hurt when a car turned into the path of a tractor-trailer unit on U.S. Highway 36 near Marceline.  The truck driver, 73-year-old Robert Clary of Ewing, and two passengers in the car, 45-year-old Helen Guerrero and 56-year-old Ronnie Miles, both of Bucklin, were taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield with Highway Patrol described minor injuries.

The driver of the car, 83-year-old Junior Long of Bucklin, was not reported hurt.

The accident was late Wednesday morning just west of the Marceline junction on U.S. Highway 36.  Both vehicles were westbound, with the truck in the passing lane, attempting to move past the car and a third vehicle.  The Patrol reports that Long, who was operating the car in the driving lane, attempted to make an unauthorized U-turn into the emergency vehicle crossover, turning into the path of the truck.

The car was demolished and the truck had moderate damage.  All four people were wearing their seat belts.
