3 hurt, 2 from Galt in crash south of Green City

The highway patrol reports three people were hurt Saturday night south of Green City when a sport utility vehicle hit a trailer that had bounced into the SUV’s lane.

The driver of the SUV, 29-year-old Brian Southers of Galt, was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital at Columbia with serious injuries.

A passenger in the SUV, 24-year old Danny Campbell of Galt, was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville with moderate injuries.

The driver of the pickup, 23-year-old Tyler Reed of Pollock, was taken by private vehicle to Northeast Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The accident happened five miles south of Green City on Highway 129 as the pickup was pulling a trailer northbound when the vehicle hit a dip in the road causing the trailer to bounce into the southbound lane where it was hit by the southbound SUV.

Both vehicles were demolished.

Tyler Reed was wearing a seatbelt, Brian Southers, and Danny Campbell were not wearing safety devices.
