The highway patrol reports two people including a child, were injured in an accident Sunday night five miles northwest of Trenton that involved an all-terrain vehicle and a dirt bike.

The accident report noted both drivers were thrown off when the ATV and dirt bike collided.

52-year-old Devin McGuire of Brimson was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital and was transferred by a medical helicopter to St Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. 10-year-old Jozie Rorebeck of Trenton was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Both were listed as having serious injuries.

McGuire’s ATV was westbound on Northwest 40th Street while negotiating a curve, the ATV crossed the center line and struck the oncoming dirt bike driven by Jozie Rorebeck. Following impact, officers said the ATV struck a ditch and overturned. The dirt bike traveled off the road and into a ditch.

Extensive damage was noted to both machines in the 7:20 Sunday night accident.

The report noted the young girl on the Kawasaki dirt bike was using a safety device while the operator of the Honda ATV was not.
