Charges Filed

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) – A woman has been charged after driving her Volkswagen into a man on the side of the road and the Uber he was riding in, killing the man.

Alannis J. Bremer, 19, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault.

According to court records, Kansas City police responded to the scene of the crash at I-435 and 103rd Street around 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Bremer had crashed her Volkswagen into a black Cadillac Escalade that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate. The driver of the Escalade, an Uber driver, had pulled off onto the shoulder so that her passenger could vomit outside her SUV.

Bremer was driving her car on the shoulder of the road when she slammed into both the SUV and the 25-year-old male passenger, who was standing outside the vehicle by the back door.

The Bremer’s car tumbled through the trees and landed on its roof down in the ditch of the ramp to 103rd Street.

The man died at the scene. Bremer and the Uber driver were both taken to the hospital.

Bremer told police that she had been drinking and fell asleep while driving.

Prosecutors have requested a $100,000 cash bond.
